Nepal And Future Events

Dear parents,
I am happy to say that the children are having a wonderful time learning about Nepal. Their favorite part has ben learning about Mount Everest. the children seem to be intrigued by the mystery of it.
on Wednesdays our class has an artist coming for 6 weeks and she has been working with the students to help them paint landscapes related to Mount Everest. Next week I will take come photos of the children painting and post them on the site. Wait until you see the beautiful work that is being done.
FYI - as a culminating activity to this project I am planning a multicultural lunch for the children in June. Parent volunteers will be needed to help set up, clean up and decorate. All students will be required to have a grownup make a traditional dish from their country. i migh even ask for 2 dishes per child. as soon as the date has been set a note will be sent home with all of the details. Please note that each child will be allowed to bring one guest with them to the luncheon. I kn ow it will be a great time for everyone.

Second Grade Does Research on Nepal

We used books and computers to Research Nepal. Check us out!

Dear Parents,

Happy new year. Sorry that it has been a while but it as been hard for the chldren to get back into the routines of being in school. We are now on track again and have been very busy learing about Nepal. The children did their independent research and have been doing more each day in class. They now know the capital city of nepal, what the flag looks like, where nepal is located and the name of the highest mountain in the world - which happens to be located in Nepal.
Our class is welcomimg an artist for the next six weeks and she has plans to complete a special project with the children using water color paints and collage. The projects center focal point will be Mount Everest. The children are so interested in Everest that I know the project wil turn out great.

Hope to post some photos of the class doing research on Nepal any day now. You will see some great teamwork. Enjoy.
Sincerely.
Mrs Phillips
