Marvelous Moracco

Dear Parents,
Our class has been studying about Moracco. We have learned that the capital city is Rabat and the largest city is Casablanca. We also learned that Moracco has a region known as the Sahara. The children did research on the Sahara and will be sharing their individual reports with the class. We have also been practicing our map skills by completing a map of Moracco locating some of its landmarks.
Now that we are nearing the end of this unit, our class will be moving on to India.
Next week you will be receiving a letter about our end of the year Multicultural celebration.
Looking forward to seeing you then.
Again thank you for your support and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Phillips

Puerto Rico

Dear parents,
Last week our class finished studying about Puerto Rico. To end our unit Diego's mother and father came to our class and presented a slide show about Puerto Rico. They showed photos of Diego and his family in Puerto Rico. They also told us about the climate, the culture and the way of life. Since there are many Puerto Ricans here in the United States we also learned about places in the city that exhibit the Puerto Rican culture.
Diego's parents put together a booklet on Puerto Rico for each of the students to take home. It is really nice. ask your child to tell you what they know about this beautiful island.
Many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Perez for their wonderful presentation and all of their hard work. Sincerely,
Mrs. Phillips

Sorry It Has Been So Long

Dear parents,
So much has happened since my last post. The children finished their paintings with the art teacher and they can be seen hanging on the bulletin board outside our classroom. We also did a whole unit on Russia and had a parent come into the class to talk to the children about her trip to Russia and why she went. i hope to post some photos of this event soon.
Our class has now moved on to a warmer climate as we are learning about Purto Rico. Students will be asked to do a short report about a rainforest animal over this weekend so plese give your child a helping hand. Thank you so much for your continued support of this project.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Phillips

Nepal And Future Events

Dear parents,
I am happy to say that the children are having a wonderful time learning about Nepal. Their favorite part has ben learning about Mount Everest. the children seem to be intrigued by the mystery of it.
on Wednesdays our class has an artist coming for 6 weeks and she has been working with the students to help them paint landscapes related to Mount Everest. Next week I will take come photos of the children painting and post them on the site. Wait until you see the beautiful work that is being done.
FYI - as a culminating activity to this project I am planning a multicultural lunch for the children in June. Parent volunteers will be needed to help set up, clean up and decorate. All students will be required to have a grownup make a traditional dish from their country. i migh even ask for 2 dishes per child. as soon as the date has been set a note will be sent home with all of the details. Please note that each child will be allowed to bring one guest with them to the luncheon. I kn ow it will be a great time for everyone.

Our class is welcomimg an artist for the next six weeks and she has plans to complete a special project with the children using water color paints and collage. The projects center focal point will be Mount Everest. The children are so interested in Everest that I know the project wil turn out great.

Hope to post some photos of the class doing research on Nepal any day now. You will see some great teamwork. Enjoy.
